Planktivore: mysis, krill and frozen foods. Feed small portions 2–3 times a day; frequent feedings help keep weight on.

Temperature 75–80°F, salinity 1.023–1.026 SG, pH 8.1–8.4, alkalinity 8–12 dKH, nitrate under 20 ppm. Minimum tank: 125 gal as an adult. Acclimate slowly and quarantine before adding to a display tank.

Reef safe with caution; may nip ornamental shrimp.

Sold as a small fish; females reach about 8 in as adults.
