**Feeding & Compatibility**

The Brown Sm Tang is primarily an herbivore, thriving on a diet rich in marine algae and plant-based foods. Incorporate high-quality seaweed, spirulina, and algae sheets to mimic its natural feeding habits. Supplement with occasional meaty foods like mysis or brine shrimp for a balanced diet. This tang is a beneficial addition to any reef, as it actively grazes on algae, helping maintain a clean and healthy environment.

**Compatibility & Social Behavior**

The Brown Sm Tang is generally compatible with a wide range of tankmates, though it may display territorial behavior towards other tangs or similarly shaped fish. It coexists peacefully with most other reef inhabitants, including invertebrates and corals. To reduce aggression, ensure ample swimming space and provide plenty of hiding spots within rockwork or caves.

**What to Expect**

A lively and industrious swimmer, the Brown Sm Tang will infuse your aquarium with energy and beauty. It's not only a natural algae controller but also a fascinating species to observe as it interacts with its environment. By adhering to its care requirements, you can enjoy a thriving and vibrant addition to your reef community for years to come.

Feeding & Diet

An opportunistic omnivore, the Pithos Crab will scavenge detritus, uneaten food, and algae — making it a natural cleanup crew member. Supplement with small meaty foods like mysis shrimp or pellets 2–3x per week if natural food sources are limited.

Care & Water Parameters

The Pithos Crab thrives in stable, well-maintained reef conditions. Target parameters: temperature 72–78°F, salinity 1.025–1.026 SG, pH 8.1–8.4, and alkalinity 8–12 dKH. A mature, established tank of at least 20 gallons is recommended.

Reef & Tank Compatibility

Generally considered reef-safe. The Pithos Crab coexists well with most corals and peaceful fish. Use caution with very small invertebrates or slow-moving tankmates. Provide ample rockwork and hiding spots to reduce territorial behavior.

Size & Growth

Pithos Crabs are typically shipped at 0.5–1.5 inches. They are slow-growing and generally remain small, making them well-suited for nano and mid-size reef systems.
