Photosynthetic. Feed chopped shrimp, krill or silverside 1–2 times a week.

Temperature 75–80°F, salinity 1.024–1.026 SG, pH 8.1–8.4, alkalinity 8–12 dKH, nitrate under 20 ppm. Keep copper and most fish medications out of the tank; they are toxic to invertebrates. Min tank: 75 gal. Needs high lighting, a mature tank and a deep sand bed. For experienced keepers. Drip acclimate over 45–60 minutes; inverts are sensitive to fast salinity changes.

Not reef safe. Strong sting; can catch and eat fish, shrimp and crabs. Hosts some clownfish species.

Can grow to 20 in or more across.
