Carnivore: shellfish and crustaceans (hard-shelled foods wear down teeth). Feed 1–2 times a day. Include hard-shelled foods such as clams, mussels or snails on the half shell to keep teeth worn down.

Temperature 75–80°F, salinity 1.023–1.026 SG, pH 8.1–8.4, alkalinity 8–12 dKH, nitrate under 20 ppm. Minimum tank: 180 gal. Acclimate slowly and quarantine before adding to a display tank.

Not reef safe (eats corals and inverts). May nip fins.

Adults reach up to 13 in.
