Kolar Labs Crystal Cal Carbon Catalytic 500g
Kolar Labs Crystal Cal Carbon Catalytic 500g
Kolar Labs Premium Catalytic Carbon quickly eliminates chlorine, chloramine and hydrogen sulfide from tap water, aquariums and reverse osmosis (RO) filtration systems. Our unique manufacturing process combines the best of adsorptive and catalytic carbons to also safely and efficiently remove unpleasant odors, tastes and other volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from your water.
Our laboratory-grade granular activated carbon features a large pore structure and high catalytic activity to remove a broad range of contaminants better than dechlorinators and other prime chemical removers. All Kolar Labs carbon is produced to rigorous food and drinking water standards for safe use across all applications.
Features:
Eliminates chlorine, chloramine, hydrogen sulfide
Removes organic contaminants, colors, odors, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs)
Low dust and fines for quick rinsing
For use in tap water filters, reverse osmosis systems and aquariums
Highly effective in filter cartridges, filter bags and as a pre-filter in RO systems
Manufactured to maximize absorption and catalytic removal performance
Made according to Food Chemicals Codex (FCC) standards
No harmful metals or alkalis often found in other catalytic carbons
High purity, phosphate-free production process
Feeding & Diet
Feeding & Diet
An opportunistic omnivore, the Pithos Crab will scavenge detritus, uneaten food, and algae — making it a natural cleanup crew member. Supplement with small meaty foods like mysis shrimp or pellets 2–3x per week if natural food sources are limited.
Care & Water Parameters
Care & Water Parameters
The Pithos Crab thrives in stable, well-maintained reef conditions. Target parameters: temperature 72–78°F, salinity 1.025–1.026 SG, pH 8.1–8.4, and alkalinity 8–12 dKH. A mature, established tank of at least 20 gallons is recommended.
Reef & Tank Compatibility
Reef & Tank Compatibility
Generally considered reef-safe. The Pithos Crab coexists well with most corals and peaceful fish. Use caution with very small invertebrates or slow-moving tankmates. Provide ample rockwork and hiding spots to reduce territorial behavior.
Size & Growth
Size & Growth
Pithos Crabs are typically shipped at 0.5–1.5 inches. They are slow-growing and generally remain small, making them well-suited for nano and mid-size reef systems.
