**Naso Tang: Graceful Algae Grazer with Striking Coloration**

The Naso Tang (Naso lituratus), also known as the Lipstick Tang or Blonde Naso Tang, is an exquisite addition to any reef aquarium. Renowned for its vibrant hues and streamlined body, this stunning fish boasts a distinctive appearance with a sleek gray body, contrasting orange and yellow highlights, and a striking facial pattern. Ideal for hobbyists looking to add both beauty and functionality to their marine display, the Naso Tang is as captivating as it is beneficial.

**Care Requirements**

To ensure your Naso Tang thrives, provide a spacious tank of at least 125 gallons. These active swimmers require ample room to roam and explore. Maintain pristine water conditions with a temperature range of 72-78°F, pH between 8.1-8.4, and a specific gravity of 1.020-1.025. Regular water changes and efficient filtration systems are essential to keep the environment clean and stable.

**Feeding Habits**

Naso Tangs are primarily herbivores, playing a crucial role in controlling algae growth within your aquarium. Offer a varied diet rich in marine-based seaweed and algae, supplemented with high-quality spirulina and vegetable-based foods. Occasional treats of mysis shrimp or brine shrimp can be provided for added nutrition.

**Reef Compatibility and Community Dynamics**

A peaceful species, the Naso Tang is compatible with most reef tank setups and coexists harmoniously with other non-aggressive fish. Known for their gentle demeanor, they can be housed alongside a variety of tank mates, including other tangs, provided ample space is available to prevent territorial disputes. Their algae-eating prowess makes them valuable contributors to maintaining a balanced and clean reef environment.

Elevate your marine aquarium with the elegance and utility of the Naso Tang. With proper care, they will not only enhance the visual appeal of your tank but also support a healthy ecosystem, making them a must-have for dedicated reef enthusiasts.

Feeding & Diet

An opportunistic omnivore, the Pithos Crab will scavenge detritus, uneaten food, and algae — making it a natural cleanup crew member. Supplement with small meaty foods like mysis shrimp or pellets 2–3x per week if natural food sources are limited.

Care & Water Parameters

The Pithos Crab thrives in stable, well-maintained reef conditions. Target parameters: temperature 72–78°F, salinity 1.025–1.026 SG, pH 8.1–8.4, and alkalinity 8–12 dKH. A mature, established tank of at least 20 gallons is recommended.

Reef & Tank Compatibility

Generally considered reef-safe. The Pithos Crab coexists well with most corals and peaceful fish. Use caution with very small invertebrates or slow-moving tankmates. Provide ample rockwork and hiding spots to reduce territorial behavior.

Size & Growth

Pithos Crabs are typically shipped at 0.5–1.5 inches. They are slow-growing and generally remain small, making them well-suited for nano and mid-size reef systems.
