Octopus - Small

Carnivore: live or frozen crabs, shrimp and clams. Feed every 1–2 days.

Temperature 75–80°F, salinity 1.024–1.026 SG, pH 8.1–8.4, alkalinity 8–12 dKH, nitrate under 20 ppm. Keep copper and most fish medications out of the tank; they are toxic to invertebrates. Min tank: 30 gal, species tank. Species tank only. Needs a tightly sealed lid with no gaps; octopus escape through very small openings. Provide caves and rockwork. Drip acclimate over 45–60 minutes; inverts are sensitive to fast salinity changes.

Not reef safe. Eats crabs, shrimp, snails and small fish. Keep alone.

Size varies by species; most small octopus stay under 2 ft including arms. Short lifespan, often about 1 year.
