Filter feeder: phytoplankton and dissolved organics. Feed phytoplankton several times a week.

Temperature 75–80°F, salinity 1.024–1.026 SG, pH 8.1–8.4, alkalinity 8–12 dKH, nitrate under 20 ppm. Keep copper and most fish medications out of the tank; they are toxic to invertebrates. Min tank: 20 gal. Never expose to air; trapped air kills sponge tissue. Place in a shaded spot with moderate flow. Drip acclimate over 45–60 minutes; inverts are sensitive to fast salinity changes.

Reef safe. Some angelfish and butterflyfish eat sponges.
