Zooplankton Frenzy
Zooplankton Frenzy – Complete Live Copepod & Rotifer Mix for Reef Tanks
After years of requests, Pod Your Reef is proud to introduce Zooplankton Frenzy — our first-ever blended live zooplankton culture. This dynamic mix delivers live prey ranging from 42 microns to 2000 microns, providing a full-spectrum food source that supports fish, corals, and filter feeders at every stage of the reef food chain.
Why Zooplankton Frenzy is Different
- Combines four proven live food species in one bottle
- Feeds everything from coral polyps to larger pod-eating fish
- 100% aquacultured – pest- and pathogen-free
- Shipped fresh and alive for peak nutrition and viability
What’s Inside Each 16 oz Bottle?
- Tisbe biminiensis – Small, benthic harpacticoid copepods that hide in rockwork and substrate, feeding on detritus and film algae. Excellent for active hunters like mandarins and scooter blennies.
- Apocyclops panamensis – Medium-sized, free-swimming cyclopoid copepods that feed both from the substrate and the water column. Perfect for fish, corals, and boosting biodiversity.
- Tigriopus californicus – Large, bright-red harpacticoid copepods rich in astaxanthin and HUFA. Their size and swim pattern trigger strong feeding responses in even the pickiest fish.
- Rotifers (Brachionus plicatilis) – Microscopic (42 microns) zooplankton ideal for coral polyps, filter feeders, and larval fish. Excellent for targeted coral feeding and early life-stage nutrition.
Perfect For
- Mandarins, scooter blennies, anthias, and other pod-dependent fish
- Corals requiring small-particle planktonic food
- Filter feeders such as clams, feather dusters, and sponges
- Seeding refugiums or new reef tanks with a balanced live food web
Feeding & Care
Add Zooplankton Frenzy directly to your display tank or refugium. Target feed corals and filter feeders for maximum impact. For continuous availability, dose regularly or culture in a separate refugium with live phytoplankton to maintain reproduction and nutritional quality.
Give your reef a complete, live food buffet — order Zooplankton Frenzy today and feed every level of your aquarium’s food chain.
Feeding & Diet
Feeding & Diet
An opportunistic omnivore, the Seahorse will scavenge detritus, uneaten food, and algae — making it a natural cleanup crew member. Supplement with small meaty foods like mysis shrimp or pellets 2–3x per week if natural food sources are limited.
Care & Water Parameters
Care & Water Parameters
The Seahorse thrives in stable, well-maintained reef conditions. Target parameters: temperature 72–78°F, salinity 1.025–1.026 SG, pH 8.1–8.4, and alkalinity 8–12 dKH. A mature, established tank of at least 20 gallons is recommended.
Reef & Tank Compatibility
Reef & Tank Compatibility
Generally considered reef-safe. The Seahorse coexists well with most corals and peaceful fish. Use caution with very small invertebrates or slow-moving tankmates. Provide ample rockwork and hiding spots to reduce territorial behavior.
Size & Growth
Size & Growth
Seahorses are typically shipped at 0.5–1.5 inches. They are slow-growing and generally remain small, making them well-suited for nano and mid-size reef systems.
